The NWFP Minister for Local Government (LG) and Rural Development (RD) Sardar Muhammad Idrees has directed the Finance Department to ensure speedy release of developmental funds under Tameer-e-Sarhad Programme (TSP) so that the work can be initiated well in time. This he said while presiding over a meeting of Provincial Steering Committee at his office in Peshawar on Thursday.
The Provincial Steering Committee discussed in detail developmental schemes under the TSP for fiscal year 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05.
The Minister further said that basic idea behind the TSP was to provide physical infrastructure facilities to the urban and rural population and to generate economic activities to improve the life standard of the people of the province.
The meeting was informed that repeated change in the list of the schemes by the concerned MPAs have created complications and slowed down the pace of work.
The Minister on this occasion requested members of Provincial Assembly to avoid change in the list of their schemes so that approval of the developmental scheme do not get delayed.
The Steering Committee discussed and approved developmental schemes under the TSP for financial year 2002-03, 2003-04 of about 28 members of the provincial assembly.
The schemes which were approved by the TSP included construction of roads, streets, irrigation channels, storage tanks, drain, Janazagah, cause way, drinking water supply schemes and class rooms etc.
Beside the representatives of P&D and Finance Department, the meeting was also attended by the Secretary LG and RD Umar Afridi.
