US stocks rose Friday, boosted by a government report showing strong jobs growth last month, but gains were sharply reduced by a weak dollar, which fell to a record low against the euro on concerns about the US trade imbalance. Shares of Pixar Animation Studios Inc reached an all-time high on expectations that its latest animated film, "The Incredibles," will be a box-office hit. Pixar shares rose $3.24, or 4 percent, to $84.10.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 48.01 points, or 0.47 percent, at 10,362.63. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 1.65 points, or 0.14 percent, at 1,163.32. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was up 5.99 points, or 0.30 percent, at 2,029.62.
