Sufficient stock of sugar is available at utility stores which are selling the commodity at Rs 20 per kg. Wheat flour is also available at utility stores at the rate of Rs 118 per 10 kg. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Food and Agriculture Arif Mustafa Jatoi and Managing Director of Utility Stores Corporation, Brigadier Hafeez Ahmed at the inaugural ceremony of Utility Store, Dewan-e-Khas, an official statement said here on Sunday.
The Minister said in pursuance of directives by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, various steps have been taken to ensure availability of sugar and wheat flour at low rates to the public.
Utility Stores Corporation has also started its mobile supply service named Mobile Stores to achieve the target, he said. The Minister said there was no shortage of sugar or flour in the province and the required checks were being applied to control artificial shortage of the commodities.
Trading Corporation of Pakistan has abundant stock of sugar and there is total ban on its export.
If required, more sugar would be imported to meet public demand, he added. Managing Director of Utility Stores said that under PM's Ramazan Package, USC has already subsidised the prices of more than 400 items by 5 to 15 percent.
