Rs 250 million plan to be launched in Chawinda soon

Provincial Labour and Human Resources Minister Syed Akhtar Hussain Rizvi has said that a multi-dimensional development plan of Chawinda cost Rs 250 million would shortly be launched in the area. The work on this plan would be carried out during next month, he said.
Talking to Business Recorder here Saturday evening, he disclosed under the plan two English medium schools would be established for the children of industrial workers at a cost of Rs 100 million while a ten bed mini hospital would also be established in the areas where modern health facilities would be ensured for the industrial workers and their dependents.
Akhtar Rizvi said that two ambulances and doctors would also be provided in this proposed mini hospital for providing modern health cover to the industrial workers and their dependents.
The present regime, he said has taken drastic steps for resolving the problems of industrial workers pertaining to health, education and accommodation on top priority basis because the industrial workers are the backbone of national economy.
He disclosed that Rs 6200,000 would be spent on the repair and construction of roads while Rs 4300,000 would be mobilised on the replacement of old and rotten wires and instalment of streetlights in Chawinda.
Similarly, Rs 3000,000 would also be spent on the construction of streets, and Rs 10 million would be spent on the improvement of sewerage system of Chawinda, he disclosed.
The Provincial Minister disclosed that degree colleges for boys and girls would be established at a cost of Rs 6 crore and work on this project would be undertaken shortly.
Syed Akhtar Rizvi disclosed that Rs One billion would be spent during current fiscal year on various development projects pertaining to industrial workers welfare in the Punjab.
He said another housing scheme for industrial workers costing Rs 50 crore would be developed on Sialkot-Sambrial road.
The proposed housing colony would consist of 1000 flats where all modern facilities would be ensured he added. The step was being taken to minimise the problems pertaining to accommodation being faced by the industrial workers of this export-oriented city he said.
Akhtar Rizvi said disclosed that construction work on an ultra modern hospital is full swing in Sialkot adding that this hospital would consist of 100 beds while the facility of cardiology, gynaecology and haemo dialysis would be provided in the hospital.
The hospital would be completed at a cost of Rs 12 crore while Rs 15 crore would be utilised on equipping the hospital latest machinery he disclosed. The Labour Minister said that with the completion of this hospital industrial workers and their dependents would get all modern health cover at local level.
