Federal Housing and Works Minister Syed Safwanullah has said that residential colonies will be constructed at district level throughout the country. He, in a statement here Sunday, said that directives have been issued to the provincial governments in this connection.
The minister said five million houses are required in the country to meet the residential problems, which are increasing by three million every year, adding: "We are trying our best to solve the residential problems at emergency basis."
The Constitution of 1960 with regard to acquired land in Islamabad will be changed so that the market rate can be given to the landowners, he added.
The government will construct houses for the government employees in the sectors G-13 and G-14 and the development work at these sectors will start within two months, the minister said.
