The State Minister for Defence Zahid Hamid has said that present government was making adequate efforts for the uplift of ignored and far-flung areas aimed at bringing these areas on equal footing with the developed parts of the country. Addressing a public meeting held in connection with the inauguration of Sui gas in the area he added that the government has taken the step for providing the facility of Sui gas on the pressing and longstanding demand of the people of the area.
The State Minister for Defence disclosed that a" cadet college" costing Rs 200 million would be set up at Pasrur adding that work on this project would be carried out shortly.
This cadet college would be second of its kind after cadet college Hassan Abdal and annually Rs 50 million would be spent on the provision of education facilities he added. Zahid Hamid said that the government has taken the step keeping in view the courage of the people that they had demonstrated in 1965 and 1971 wars.
In order to protect the tehsil Pasrur the construction work of protective on seasonal Nullah Dek is near completion while bridge on the Nullah was also being constructed both the projects would be accomplished at cost of Rs 140 million he disclosed.
The Minister of State for Defence disclosed that Asian Development Bank (ADB) would provide Rs 10.25 million to each union councils of tehsil Pasrur enabling them to undertake different development projects adding under the scheme he said Rs 6000,000 would also be provided to the farmer community for installation of tube wells in tehsil Pasrur.
Speaking on the occasion Provincial Labour and Human Resources Minister Syed Akhtar Hussain Rizvi said that Punjab government was mobilising huge funds on banishing the backwardness from backward and neglected areas on top priority basis. He said that basic facilities like health, education, Sui gas, and telecommunication were being provided in far-off areas.
Syed Akhtar Rizvi disclosed that 23-KM long Sui gas pipeline had been laid at cost of Rs 20.80 million for providing the facility of gas to the people of Chawinda and its adjoining abodes.
The meeting was also addressed by the high-ups of Sui Northern Gas pipeline. On this occasion the Minister of State for Defence and Provincial Labour Minister handed over the demand notices to the people. Later, they inaugurated the Sui gas project.
