Powered by new models, BMW group sales rose 8.2 percent in October to 101,899 units, the German premium carmaker said on Monday. Sales of BMW brand vehicles gained 8.9 percent to 86,768 units, while Mini brand sales gained 4.3 percent to 15,060 and 71 Rolls-Royce cars were delivered. Group sales in the first 10 months of 2004 rose 8.8 percent to 989,197 units, it said in a statement.
It cited its new 1-Series compact, X3 offroader and 6-series cars for its ability to generate sales growth well above the market average.
"With these products we have entered three new segments in nine months," sales and marketing chief Michael Ganal said in a statement.
"The market successes so far of all three model series indicate that this expansion on the product side will be a long-term success."
BMW shares rose 0.9 percent to 32.64 euros by 1018 GMT while the DJ Stoxx European car sector index gained 0.5 percent.
