Armitage arrives

United States Deputy Secretary of State, Richard Armitage arrived here on Monday evening. He will call on President Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri and have talks with Foreign Secretary Riaz H Khokhar on post Afghan elections, war on terrorism and Pak-India dialogue process. Foreign Office spokesman, Masood Khan said Pakistan and the US as allies have co-operated in the war against terrorism and want to look at relationship beyond this.
He said the US and international community has been interested in encouraging both India and Pakistan to come to the negotiating table and resolve all outstanding issues.
Masood Khan said the US is sensitive to Pakistan's concern about its defence requirements and imbalances in conventional weapons in the region.
