The Delhi High Court on Wednesday banned import of Chinese-made toy globes of the world following complaints that they did not depict the disputed zone of Kashmir as part of India. The court ordered the Indian government to enforce the ban, which also extends to the sale of globes already imported by the Indian sellers.
"We direct customs officials not to permit import of toy globes depicting territory of India incorrectly," judges B.C. Patel and B.D. Ahmed said in an order.
They said the 'faulty' globes were being manufactured by four firms in China and Hong Kong. The court did not say where the globes in fact positioned Kashmir.
Delhi, which administers the southern two-thirds of Kashmir, is sensitive over the depiction of the disputed region as an alien territory.
