Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz reviewed the progress of development schemes and projects proposed by parliamentarians for provision of gas, electricity, construction of roads etc.
Presiding over a meeting here on Saturday with Planning Division and Finance Division, the Prime Minister said that the development schemes particularly aimed at socio-economic uplift of the people should be completed on time. The Planning Commission, while keeping close monitoring on the progress, should ensure on time release of funds for such schemes for their timely completion, he added.
He said it was important to provide gas and electricity to the areas which had been neglected so far. Energy plays a catalyst role in generation of economic activity and promotion of business. The Government, he said, was therefore, focusing on providing gas, electricity and roads network to the far-flung areas. Special allocation for construction of farm-to-market roads has been made to uplift the areas and improve the quality of life of the people.
The Planning Commission made a presentation on the development schemes initiated by the government in electricity, roads and gas sectors.
