Transport Department Punjab has constituted special teams to check over-charging of fares by the transporters on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. The Punjab Minister for Transport, Rana Shamshad Ahmad Khan stated this here on Saturday.
He said that an action would be taken against those transporters who would found involved in over-charging on urban and inter-district routes on the occasion of Eid. The department has constituted special teams comprising its field staff to check over charging, he added.
These teams would conduct surprise raids and impose fine on those transporters who would be found involved in over charging.
Moreover, heavy rush of those passengers has been witnessed at bus stands and other places, who wanted to return to their native towns, to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with their near and dear ones. News of falling Eid on Saturday in Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries also persuaded residents of other areas to go their hometowns today, to celebrate the occasion in their native area.
