Nine killed in road accident

At least nine passengers, including three women and a minor boy, were killed and another eight injured, four of them seriously, when a Karachi-bound loaded trawler collided with a Sadiqabad-bound wagon. The trawler was trying to overtake the wagon at a curve. "We have received information from Muhammad Panah Rural Health Centre (Liaquatpur) that at least nine passengers, including three women - Mansab Mai, Wasso Mai, Sakina Mai - and a minor boy Arshad (3) were killed when a loaded trawler collided with a Toyota Hiace wagon while it was overtaking it at a curve on Thursday afternoon," DIG Bahawalpur range Sarfraz Hussain Sindhu told this correspondent on phone.
He said that the trawler driver managed to run away from the scene leaving his vehicle at the site.
