Shujabad police are allegedly threatening the witnesses of dire consequences and trying to save the alleged rapists by declaring the case an attempt to rape while the fact is that two persons Asghar and Ramzan outraged the modesty of a married woman and the accused had confessed the crime before the local Punchayat. It was alleged by Mehnaz Bibi, while addressing a press conference along with her husband Shaukat Hussain and mother Laalan Mai on Thursday.
She complained that the police were trying to distort her case and provide relief to the accused while the village council declared the accused as rapists. Mehnaz told newsmen that the police distorted her statement in which she alleged that two persons - Asghar and Ramzan - outraged her modesty at gunpoint but the Sadar police registered a case, according to which they had attempted to rape her. This, she said, was done in order to save the culprits.
She further said the police flatly refused to get her medically examined. With tears trickling down her cheeks she said that police, under the pressure of influential persons, have also removed supplementary investigation reports about the case.
Mehnaz also recorded her statement with the Shujaabad SP and Sadar police SHO. She said the police did not register the FIR against the accused according to her statement. The rape victim has appealed to Punjab Governor and Chief Minister to provide her justice and protect her from the police high-handiness.
