Hundreds of acres of fields with standing crops and a village were inundated when a breach developed in Lower Bari Doab canal near chak 96/6R here on Thursday. The civil administration called out army jawans for help. DCO Maher Mohammad Nawaz while talking to journalists said that the officials of the irrigation department had reached on the spot to fill the 40 feet breach.
People were being shifted to safer places whereas notices had been issued to the residents of villages chaks 95/6R, 96/6R and 97/6R to vacate the area immediately, he added.
