Punjab government was taking measures to change the Thana and Jail culture and bring jail reforms in order to convert prisons in the province as reform centres and to make the prisoners useful citizens. Under this programme of the provincial government the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons Sarfaraz Mufti has paid a surprise visit of the Adiala Jail here on Thursday. He checked the record of the prisoners and reviewed the jail manual and the facilities given to prisoners under the jail reforms programme of the provincial government.
He also checked the security arrangements in the jail and expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements and the facilities being given to prisoners.
The DIG visited the condemn cells and the special cells made for the terrorists and the workers of religious parties. He also paid a visit to Jail Hospital and checked the record of the hospital besides meeting the ailing prisoners.
Mufti met the prisoners individually besides listening their complaints against the jail officials and issued on the spot orders for the redressal of the complaints of prisoners.
Expressing satisfaction over the arrangements in the jail the DIG has directed the jail officials to make sure the strict security besides enhancing the security arrangements.
He said that government is stick to its jail reforms programme and wants to change the jail culture and make the prisoners useful element of the society in spite of making them criminals.
