With the initiatives to streamline the tax system, govt has earned good fame among the industrialists, investors, exporters and business community, which would guide country towards new horizons of economic stability besides generating more revenue, said Najam Rehan President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) here on Thursday. Talking to a group of traders here he said that by streamlining the tax system and making it business and investor friendly the government has succeeded to get confidence of the business class, which would help in further strengthening the socio economic structure of the country.
He appreciated the decision by the central board of revenue (CBR) for abolishing the field audit system and introducing desk audit system and said that the interference of tax and government officials in industrial and business was creating the element of harassment among the business circle.
He noted that the field audit system was not producing any revenue for government except keeping the taxpayer away from the tax system. Confidence building measures taken by the CBR would help in making system easy and abolishing the ambiguities besides bringing more people into the tax net, he added.
He called upon government to facilitate taxpayers so that business class could make themselves able to compete in the international market and could meet the future economic challenges.
