Work is being carried out on war-footing for the revival of the Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) at the earliest. This was stated by Sindh Minister for Transport, Labour and Industry, Mohammad Adil Siddiqui, here on Thursday prior to his departure for Islamabad. In the federal capital he would attend a meeting on Friday, in which the Task Force would present the plan of action including details regarding the prevailing situation, recommendations and steps for the revival of the KCR, it further stated.
At the meeting, recommendations would be given a final shape and would later be presented to Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The task force has already considered matters pertaining to removal of encroachments from around the track of the KCR, necessary steps for the revival of KCR and other matters including the availability of locomotives.
The task force consists of Mohammad Adil Siddiqui, Minister of State Ishaq Khakwani, Executive District Officer Transport of City District Government Karachi Dr Tahir Soomro.
