The compressed natural gas (CNG) across the country so far attracted investment of more than Rs 15 billion beside creating employment of about 15,000 workers. According to official sources, an investment of Rs five billion was in the pipeline adding that presently about 600 CNG stations throughout the country are operational, catering to the needs of 660,000 vehicles.
The number of vehicles switching over to the use of CNG is increasing day by day due to high prices of petrol and diesel. The private sector is the main source of investment in CNG network, sources disclosed.
