Shaukat's address widely welcomed

The address to the nation by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was widely hailed by a cross section of people who expressed hope the implementation of policies as enunciated by him will, Insha'allah, steer the country to the path of progress and prosperity. In their comments, people belonging to various walks of life including businessmen, intellectuals, scholars, educationists and even people on the street remarked they had no reason to doubt the sincerity of Prime Minister who spoke frankly at length to carry nation to the course of development and make Pakistan one of the developed countries of the world.
Giving his impressions Haji Mohammed Hanif Tayyab, a former federal minister and a religious scholar said the steps announced for dispensing speedy justice would be welcomed by all sections of population as people wanted cheaper and speedy justice for having their grievances mitigated.
As to police reforms referred to by him, Hanif Tayyab said people need a friendly force which could really come to their aid. He said in the past merely announcements used to be made by governments but this time Shaukat Aziz had announced to take practical steps and we would eagerly await its positive results.
He said the economic reforms as spoken by him would hopefully bring relief to poor class of people, particularly those who suffered owing to the price hike. He hoped government would control prices to an extent that people could feel they were getting relief.
On the political front, Haji Hanif welcomed the PM's offer of taking opposition into confidence and hoped opposition would also respond to his offer with same spirit.
