Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the over all law and order situation and economy of the country has improved at a considerable level under the dynamic leadership of the President General Pervez Musharraf and further efforts are under way to bring about radical changes in both sectors. Talking to newsmen at Sukkur Airport on Saturday he said that a proposal of holding next Local Government elections of District and Taluka Nazims, Naib Nazims on party basis was under active consideration of the Sindh government.
However, he added that the final decision to this effect would be taken by the Federal Government after taking into account the best national interest.
Responding to a question regarding construction of Sardar Ghulam Muhammad Khan Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, the Chief Minister said that the college would be constructed at the site already selected for the purpose and even if further land was required for the college, the same would also be made available so that the project could be completed as per actual requirement.
He said that flow of irrigation water had been increased and he was hopeful that there would be no shortage of water during the current Rabi season.
He appealed to the people not to pay heed to the hollow slogans of political parties, which are taking out processions on one pretext or the other. In the meantime he gave a note of warning that no body would be allowed to take law in his own hands and if so those would be dealt with severely.
The Chief Minister said that he had always believed in clean politics and hence offered himself even for broad-based accountability.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said the rights of people would be safeguarded at all cost.
He said decision regarding the construction of Kalabagh Dam and Thal Canal would be taken only with the consultation of people of Sindh and any step in that regard would be taken in their interest alone.
He was talking to journalists at a village Wazirabad near Shikarpur on the occasion of marriage of daughter of Federal Minister Ghaus Bux Khan Mahar.
Replying another question regarding providing over 40,000 jobs to educated youth in the province, he said the recruitment policy would be finalised soon.
The Chief Minister said local government system was a good system for solving the problems of people at grassroots level. He said it had been proposed local bodies election would be held on non-party basis at Union Council and on party basis at District and Taluka levels.
