Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that opposition can hold processions/rallies but nobody would be allowed to disturb law and order, adding that not a single individual will come out against the president's uniform. He was talking to the mediamen following the Golden Jubilee ceremony of "Khyber Medical College" organised by The Khyberians, here on Saturday.
Sherpao said that if opposition wishes to fulfil its desire to protest against the president's uniform it is free to do so, but it has to take care of the democratic norms by maintaining law and order.
"Masses will not support the ARD and MMA for the settled issue of uniform" he added.
The Minister further said that providing permission to the opposition for holding the anti-uniform rallies and marches would depend on the political atmosphere in the country.
He pointed out that the real issues of masses were unemployment, injustice and economic disparities in the society, for which the government has formulated a comprehensive plan and would implement it soon.
Sherpao said that common man is not concerned with the uniform and added that opposition was just propagating minor issues for their political interests.
About Wana situation, the Minister said that government has held dialogues with number of tribal leaders to resolve the crisis through political process.
Earlier, addressing the ceremony Sherpao said that KMC has a long history of producing good doctors for the country. He praised the Khyberians for their contribution at national and international level.
Dr Manzoor Hussain from KMC said that celebrating the golden jubilee was just to pay tribute to the founder members and old students of the college.
