A hefty amount of Rs 30 billion has been earmarked for universities of Sindh province to ensure quality education, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad said here on Sunday. Addressing launching ceremony of Pakistan Consortium of British Universities here, he said that funds allocated would be utilised for facilities for teaching and research, libraries, laboratories and training of teachers.
He expressed great optimism that as a result of huge investment in education sector, the quality of education, standard and better opportunities, the country would join developed countries of the world.
Sindh Governor noted that the number of Ph.D's is very low and steps are being taken to encourage post-graduate studies. The research work is consonant with the development of the country, he said underlining the need for research and higher education.
