Opec oil-producer the United Arab Emirates swore in its new cabinet on Sunday three weeks after the death of the Gulf state's long-standing president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahayan. President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahayan presided over the swearing-in ceremony in the capital Abu Dhabi, government sources and the official WAM news agency said.
The UAE had reshuffled its cabinet on November 1, a day before announcing Sheikh Zayed's death after a long illness. Religious holidays and a period of mourning had delayed the ministers' taking office.
The change included replacing the oil minister by veteran oil man Mohamed bin al-Dhaen al-Hamili and appointing the country's first woman minister.
