Brazilian cocoa arrivals fall

25 Nov, 2004

Brazilian 2004/05 (May/April) cocoa arrivals from Bahia and other states totalled 2.16 million 60-kg bags by November 21, down 17 percent from 2.60 million bags a year ago, the Bahia Commercial Association said Wednesday. Bahia state, Brazil's main cocoa producer, delivered 42,478 bags in the week ended November 21, down from 54,747 bags in the same week in 2003/04.
Cocoa analyst Thomas Hartmann said in the association's weekly report that "last week's arrivals from Bahia have now come to reflect the real situation of a declining flow of cocoa from the farms."
