Work on Rs 1,820 million programme for improvement of water courses has been launched on twelve water courses of Hyderabad district and the first ever lining scheme of water courses is about to be completed in Taluka Matiari. The DCO Hyderabad Muhammad Hussain Syed disclosed while addressing the District Project Implementation Committee of National programme for improvement of watercourses.
He said that an amount of Rs 58 million has been released in first phase to the district Government Hyderabad for implementation of the project under which 2,930 water courses would be lined at a total cost of Rs 1,820 million with in four years.
He said that out of the total amount of investment the government share would be Rs 1414.620 million while the remaining amount of investment of Rs 405.563 million would be shared by farmers concerned in the shape of skilled and non skilled labour.
He said against the lining of 254 watercourses at the cost of Rs 157.791 million so far the district government Hyderabad of which 88 applications are in process with the irrigation department has received 260 applications.
He said till date 172 water Course Associations has been formed while the rest are under formation process.
He said that Hyderabad is the first in the province that has launched the National Programme in the province.
