LHC summons Town Nazim

27 Nov, 2004

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned Nazim Allama Iqbal Town Sardar Adil on December 20, in a petition filed by Sabzazar Welfare Society (SWS) President Saeed Assi praying to the court to direct the respondents to shift slaughterhouse from the area. The court also called for reply in the petition from the Town Nazim within two-week and rose for the day.
The petitioner contended he had earlier approached the court in 1998, and the respondents had promised to shift the slaughterhouse but no step had so far been taken.
The petitioner therefore prayed to the court to direct the respondents to act in accordance with the law and shift the slaughterhouse from the area immediately.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, issued notice to Town Nazim and directed him to appear before the court on next date of hearing.
INTRA COURT APPEAL: A member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has filed an intra court appeal against the decision of a single bench which dismissed the petition challenging the construction of ring road in the Lahore city.
The petitioner M D Tahir pleaded the court without giving proper hearing dismissed the petition in limn.
The petitioner contended due to construction of ring road, a number of mosques, markets, plazas and residential areas would be effected.
He prayed to the court to stay the construction of the ring road till the disposal of that petition.
