District Police Officer Mohammad Naeem Khan at a press briefing on Friday disclosed that three dangerous outlaws have been arrested by the police. He said accused Khizar Hayat and Sarfraz of district Jhang and Mohammad Nawaz of Sargodha district, involved in several cases of highway robbery and dacoity with murder, have been held by the Lahorian police.
The accused, members of a criminal gang known as 'Nuri group' were wanted in various cases by Laxian, Midh Ranjah, Kot Momin, Bhalwal, Bhaghtanwala, Pindi Bhattian and Chenab Nagar police.
The DPO said that the group was active on both sides of river Chenab and a source of terror for the people of area. The ring leader Mohammad Nawaz had been arrested while his accomplices Mushtaq alias Chaman and Ansar were killed in an encounter.
Eight stolen motorcycles, unlicensed weapons, goods worth Rs 500,000 and five guns used in crime have been recovered from the three accused, he said, adding that the police hoped to arrest the remaining four members of the gang shortly, as search raids were in progress.
