Naimat orders early completion of Shahrah-e-Orangi

City Nazim Naimatullah Khan has directed concerned departments to remove the bottlenecks in construction of Shahrah-e-Orangi in order to redress problems of the residents of Orangi Town. This he stated while paying six hour long emergency visit to the said road to inspect the pace of work and directed concerned officials to complete the work as soon as possible.

The under construction 6 km long Shahrah-e-Orangi from Caltex Pump Banaras Chowk to Tori Bungash Chowk will have double tracks each having three lanes. Sewerage and storm water drains are being constructed on both sides of the road, under TKP in the first phase at the cost of Rs 173.7 million. The completion of road is scheduled in 24 months.
Naimatullah expressing his annoyance over slow pace of work directed the concerned officials to expedite the work.
He was told encroachments and electricity poles were major hurdles in expediting the work. The pace of work would be accelerated, once those hurdles were removed and hoped to be completed in the stipulated time.
It was informed two portions of road, one from Town Municipal Administration Office Orangi to Nishan Hyder Chowk and second one from Tori Bungash Chowk to Rais Amrohvi Colony would be opened for public after completion of construction work on said portions in four months.
Speaking to people in Bijli Nagar, Naimatullah Khan maintained they own problems of Orangi Town and all efforts were being made to resolve them.
"City government will extend all out co-operation to resolve the problems by consulting with elected representatives," he assured.
Karachi Nazim deploring on dilapidated condition of roads in Orangi held out the assurance on demand of people measures would be taken to ensure construction of roads from Faqir Colony to Farid Colony, Tori Bungash Chowk to Raja Tanvir Colony, Frontier Morr to Malik Chowk, from Malik Chowk to Faqir Colony and road in Bijli Nagar by taking members of national and provincial assemblies from the area into confidence.
MPA Hameedullah Khan Advocate speaking on the occasion said development works affected owing to quarrel between Nazim and Naib Nazim of town. He requested City Nazim to take steps to improve the roads of town from city government's funds in view of worst conditions of roads to get the people rid from difficulties while travelling.
"Members of assemblies from the area will utilise their funds to upgrade the roads of Orangi, he announced. City Nazim directed officials of water and sanitation to take measures for replacing obsolete and old water lines and to plug the leakage's after carrying out the inspection.
