A total of 26 people were killed and another 46 injured, including five children, after a bus plunged into a river in China's north-west Shaanxi province on Saturday, state media reported Thirteen of the injured were in serious condition.
The bus, crammed with 72 people, overturned and plunged into the river early Saturday when it was travelling on a highway between the provincial capital Xian and Zhouzhi county, Xinhua news agency reported.
The bus bound for Shanghai was loaded with passengers from Sichuan province, who were mostly farmers trying to look for jobs in the affluent eastern coastal metropolis, it said.
