Sindh Chief Minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Sunday described the first protest public meeting of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal "a miserably failed show." "Not more than 10,000 participants turned up at the public meeting", Dr Arbab, who is also President of PML Sindh remarked while talking to a private TV channel after the end of the public meeting. He pointed out that in a city of 14 million, the attendance of just 10,000 or so speaks itself about the popularity of MMA among the people.
The Sindh Chief Minister said people have become fed up of negative politics or issues like that of uniform. They want solution of their problems and have no interest in the uniform. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Communications, Senator Babar Khan Ghauri has described MMA's public meeting as a total failure and said that MMA should understand that people do not support it.
People are fed up with double standard politics of MMA and its unrealistic approach towards national and international issues.
Most of the people were brought from Madaris by MMA for its face saving, the Minister further said. He suggested MMA to accept people's verdict, who had already given a clear mandate and support to President Pervez Musharraf for giving a successful socio-economic agenda.
"Now these so-called religious and political elements should resign from politics," Ghauri said.
The General Secretary PML Sindh, Imtiaz Shaikh also described the first show of power by MMA a complete failure, and said they failed to woo the masses.
