Punjab industrial estates have received 11 applications, three foreign and eight local firms, for setting up of 150 mega watts power station at Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE). Moshin Syed, Chairman of Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIE), disclosed this while talking newsmen here on Sunday.
He said that after the detailed scrutiny, an Islamabad based organisation has been assigned to prepare technical and financial feasibility report within next three months, which would be made available to all prospective investors.
"SIE industrialists would be supplied electricity at international rates, which would also help them to not only enhance the quality of their products but also reduce the cost of production to survive in the highly competitive post WTO environment," he added.
He said that he has received enthusiastic response from the investors who were eagerly interested in this project. He also stated that PIE would also be expanding its power plant to 300 mega watts once SIE was fully colonised and would sell excess power to Lesco for which it was already engaged in negotiations with Wapda, Lesco and Nepra authorities.
