The actual loss in the Indus Basin during the period October 1 to November 20 remained 15 percent against anticipated loss of 11 percent. This was informed in a meeting of Indus River System Authority (Irsa) held here on Monday under the chairmanship of Aman Gul Khattak, Irsa chairman and member, Irsa, NWFP.
The meeting was arranged to review the water situation for the Rabi season 2004-05, which was attended by Irsa members of all four provinces.
Due to increase in losses the water shortage may be of the order of 47 percent during the Rabi season. The provinces were apprised about the water utilisation up to November 20. The meeting also discussed river inflows, storage position and system losses.
It was also decided that Irsa technical committee will meet on December 13 to review the water position.
