Punjab Forests Department in collaboration with National Highway Authority (NHA) has started planting saplings along both sides of GT Road and in this regard 125,000 plants would be planted at N-5 from Rawalpindi to Jhelum and Jhelum to Gujranwala.
Giving details of plantation campaign, Punjab Forests Minister, Dr Ashfaq-ur-Rehman said that plantation of 77,000 saplings along GT Road from Rawalpindi to Jhelum would cost Rs9.75 million and this project would be completed in five years.
Likewise, he said from Jhelum to Gujranwala 48,000 saplings would be planted at a cost Rs6.44 million in the same period. He added that plantation would not only add beauty to the areas along GT Road but would also alleviate environmental pollution.
