The sub-committee of the parliamentary panel on Balochistan on Tuesday was assigned the task of making recommendations to promote inter-provincial harmony and to protect the rights of the provinces with a view to strengthen the federation. The committee met here under the chairmanship of Leader of the House in the Senate Wasim Sajjad.
Joint Parliamentary Committee on Balochistan Vice Chairman and Acting Senate Chairman Khalilur Rehman was also present on the occasion.
Senator Asfandyar Wali presented his recommendations dealing with enhanced provincial autonomy, devolution of subjects from the federation to the provinces, doing away with the concurrent list and renaming the province of NWFP.
The sub-committee also discussed in detail various aspects of the proposals made by the members in its last meeting.
There was a general consensus that the members of the sub-committee should submit their proposals in black and white so that the same could be discussed in the next meeting.
Wasim Sajjad, Law Minister Wasi Zafar, senators Muhammad Ali Durrani, Kulsoom Parveen, Ghulam Hyder Samejo, MNAs and senior officers of the Law Ministry were also present on the occasion.
