Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Tuesday said the foreign investment in Pakistan is welcomed and for this purpose the government had provided a level playing field to all the foreign investors. He stated this while talking to American Energy Services (AES) President and CEO Paul Hanrahan, who called on him here at the Prime Minister Secretariat.
The prime minister welcoming the AES delegation pointed out that all decisions with respect to contracts and agreements with local and foreign investors are done in a transparent manner and through comparative bidding.
Shaukat Aziz said Pakistan was providing best opportunities for the investment in the region, adding the climate is conducive and the government was providing best possible infrastructural facilities in the country to facilitate the private investors.
Paul Hanrahan informed Shaukat Aziz that the AES was considering improving its investments in Pakistan in the energy sector, saying his company is looking for opportunities for further expansion in their existing generation capacity as well as in distribution in different parts of the country.
The prime minister said the environment in the country was conducive and they are encouraged by the quality of economic reforms and solid commitment shown by the government to constantly pursue them.
