02 Dec, 2004

The traffic police challaned a large number of vehicles for having tinted glasses here on Wednesday. The traffic police have launched a campaign against vehicles with tinted glasses following the orders of Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui.
At several intersections of the city the traffic police teams stood alert and stopped every car moving with tinted glasses and challaned them.
Some vehicle owners, especially imported vehicle owners, said that their cars have factory fitted tinted glasses and they need sometime to get the tinted glasses replaced with normal glasses.
Almost 99 percent of the vehicles challaned on Wednesday were latest models of 2003 and 2004, belonged to multinational companies or elite class.
The businesses of car accessories shops have registered an increase as several car owners are changing their tinted glasses with normal ones.
However, some vehicles belonging to the consular corps and VVIPs were still running on city roads with tinted glasses.
