The telecom industry has progressed a great deal in Pakistan during the past few years. During the year 2004, the telecom sector has been a key issue in the Pakistani media. Two new companies have been granted permission to install cellular GSM network in Pakistan. One company that was already providing cellular phone services was upgraded to GSM. Wireless Local Loop licences have been granted to more than ten companies.
The telecom market is growing rapidly providing more opportunities and more variety of services. At the same time a war is going on among these companies for having first place in the market. Many companies have reduced their connection charges to a great extent and some others have cut their call rates drastically.
All of these changes are made to attract more and more customers, to sell more and more connections and to beat their competitors. But at the same time, quality is usually reported to be reducing. Many customers are having difficulty while connecting to network due to increased load on the network. These flaws are asking for the need of better planning.
The real victorious company in this war will be one, which adopts "law of averages" and believes in quality than quantity.
