PML pursuing constructive politics: Shaukat

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said here Sunday that Pakistan Muslim League (PML) believes in constructive politics, and is pursuing the same. He stated this while addressing party workers, leaders, members of the provincial cabinet of the PML here at the Governor House. Sindh Chief Minister and Sindh PML President Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, and Sindh Minister and Sindh PML Secretary General Imtiaz Sheikh besides, other office-bearers and party workers, including those from interior Sindh were also present on the occasion.
Extending felicitations to the new entrants in PML-fold on behalf of President Pervez Musharraf and on his own behalf, Shaukat said: "We want that the PML should play an active and exemplary role in the country's politics.
"The era of drawing room politics is over, we got various factions of PML united with the objective that a united Muslim League can play an active role in the country's politics", he told party workers.
"Our basic objective is to make maximum development in the country and achieve this goal. We are marching ahead as the interest of the country and the nation is supreme to us", the prime minister observed.
He said: "We had always given priority to national interest over personal gain as we believe politics is a source of service."
The prime minister said instead of raising hollow slogans, we concentrate on tactical work and welfare projects so that problems of the general public are resolved at the earliest.
He said during his election campaign he observed that voters are now matured. They know sell who can solve their problems and who can't, he added.
The prime minister said in the Center and in Sindh we have formed coalition governments, adding at the federal level, an important legislation was passed by both the houses under which President Musharraf can retain two offices.
He said it was imperative for the transition period, and added that in 2007 when democracy would strengthen, there will be no need of this law.
Shaukat Aziz said in politics, we believe in holding negotiations with every one. Sometimes reports of these meetings appear in the press and sometimes do not. But, he said it does not mean that we are doing a deal with any one, However, the objective behind these meetings is to promote an atmosphere of reconciliation.
