Judges kidnapping issue raised in Senate

Senator Hadayatullah during Senate proceedings on Monday raised the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in the country, in the context of kidnapping of two judges in Shikarpur. "If judges being the provider of justice are not safe in this country then how a common man can be safe in such condition of human rights violation", the Senator remarked. He questioned the negligence of Minister for Interior regarding this matter of grave concern and demanded a quick government action on the issue.
Senator Enver Beg raised a point of order inquiring from the State minister for Foreign Affairs regarding CIA report against Abdul Qadir Khan's alleged transfer of nuclear technology to Iran.
Senator Raza Muhammad Raza inquired from the minister Incharge of Prime Minister Secretariat, Sher Afgan regarding the foreign reserves of $12 billion and the measures taken for the management and allocation of the this amount.
Senator Hameedullah raised a point of order regarding CDA' s allotment of land to construct a tennis club having Rs 3 billion market value to private persons.
He said that CDA can complete construction of tennis club with the expenditure of Rs 10 million and this project must not be given to private companies. "This is the wastage of government funds", he remarked.
Minister Shehzad Waseem said that strict action would be taken if any kind of irregularity found in this issue.
Senator Rukhsana Zuberi demanded that this matter must be referred to committee for further consideration and the Chairman obliged.
Senator, Ismail Buledi raised a point of order regarding the harassment of agencies on check posts and demanded that there must be checks and balances on the officials of these agencies so that the common man do not suffer.
Minister Shehzad Waseem said that with the co-operation of the opposition and treasury, this matter would be resolved soon.
Senator Raza Muhammad Raza said that 10 million developmental funds were allocated to each Senator to be spent in their constituencies but this matter became a victim of negligence. Fund releasing process should be expedited, he demanded.
Senator, Sanaullah Baloch raised the issue that in Balochistan there more are military checkpoints than industrial units.
"The government claims that Balochistan will be given priority in resources' allocation then why this province is kept backward by the federal government, he criticised.
