Need to equip students with skills stressed

08 Dec, 2004

National Assembly Speaker Choudhry Amir Hussain has said that education is not only the responsibility of students alone, but was an effort of trinity comprising student, teacher and parents. Speaking as chief guest at prize distribution ceremony of The City School Campus here on Monday evening, he further said that if anyone of that triangle slackened, the results would be distorted.
Amir Hussain said it was therefore mandatory for the whole team to keep an eye over the aims and objectives and work relevantly to achieve those goals.
The National Assembly Speaker said that it was our national and moral duty to work together to make the life for our young people fun, challenging and non-threatening. He stressed the need of equipping students with the skills and competence enabling them to win the struggles of life without any hindrance.
He pointed out the Unesco International Commission on Education had projected four pillars that were learning to know, learning to do, learning to be and learning to live together as the basis of education.
The real education was "learning throughout life" and it enabled the learner to meet the challenges of rapidly changing world, he said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said that learning started at school where the teach-pupil relationship developed into most creative factor in the learners' life.
The National Assembly Speaker highly lauded the efforts of The City School Sialkot for showing enthusiasm and enterprise to carry out the most essential responsibility of producing quality students, imbued with the awareness of their heritage. He also congratulated the students on their brilliant performance.
Earlier, the National Assembly Speaker along with City School Principle Noreen Sarfraz and Headmistress Sumera Sabir distributed the prize and shields between the males and female on their outstanding performance.
