850 constables to be recruited in Railways

Inspector General Police Railways Chaudhry Ahmed Naseem Gujjar on Thursday said 850 constables are being recruited in the railways police for the safe travel of passengers. Talking to newsmen at Police Line here, he said women commandos have also been deployed besides male commodes in the trains running at night to ensure the safety of passengers.
SSP Munir Ahmed, SP Umar Farooq, SP Investigation Dr Suleman, ASP Ijaz Ahmed and DSP Shahid Razzaq were also present on the occasion.
The IG railways said that the government has provided modern arms, wireless sets and metal detectors costing Rs 70 million to railways police. He said it will not only boost the morale of railways police but would effectively control the crimes.
Later, IG handed over a cheque of Rs 300,000 to a widow of the 'Shaheed' constable Tariq who was killed on Wednesday. He also announced Rs 300,000 compensation for the heirs of the deceased and recruitment of the deceased's disabled brother in the department.
