Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is likely to expand the cabinet and the names of new ministers will be finalised after the return of PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on December 14. Reliable sources told NNI that five to eight more ministers would be further inducted in the cabinet.
The cabinet expansion has been necessitated to accommodate the estranged members of the Pakistan Muslim League. These members are to a great extent responsible for the lack of quorum in the National Assembly sessions.
According to the sources, Saleem Jan Mazari and PPP-Patriots' Khalid Khan Lund from Sindh will be taken in the expanded cabinet.
Their inclusion in the cabinet is aimed at paving way for mobilisation of public opinion in favour of the construction of Kalabagh Dam, and effectively tackle the PPPP politically.
From Punjab, the sources said, Sanaullah Masti Khel of Muslim League, Rana Omar Nazir, son of Rana Nazir Ahmad Khan, and Rana Tariq Javed might be included in the cabinet.
In case the cabinet is expanded, the strength of the federal ministers and ministers of state will rise to over 65 members.
