Religion column in passport to be restored: Ijaz

Federal Minister for Religious and Minorities Affairs Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq has said that religion column in machine-readable passport would be restored and Islamic Republic of Pakistan would be printed on the new passport instead of Pakistan. The minister was talking to the media men on the eve of Christmas day function at the Pakistan Muslim League central secretariat on Friday.
Ijaz said that the column was removed due to some technical difficulties and PML has decided to restore it. He said it is a good development that all the opposition parties have accepted the dialogue invitation to resolve all issues amicably.
He rejected any contact with two exiled former premiers and clarified that dialogue would be held with leaders who were present in Pakistan. To a question, he said Nawaz Sharif has flown to Jeddah under a deal and he himself would disclose the deal.
Earlier addressing the gathering he said that according to the constitution of Islamic Republic of Pakistan all citizens have equal rights, which would be ensured.
