Hong Kong group keen to invest in ports and shipping sector

Noble Group of Hong Kong has expressed interest in investment in ports and shipping sector of Pakistan. Noble Group Senior Vice-President H.S.Banga is currently leading a three-member delegation to Pakistan with other two members, ie Heneretta Lee and Harsch Channa. Banga told the Business Recorder on Friday that during their visit, they planned to call on concerned officials, both in the public and private sector, to learn more about the investment policies of the Pakistan government.
He said the group was keen to study the energy policy with special emphasis on the coal-powered energy sector, including coal and coke business, clean oil unit, especially chemical unit and noble environmental solutions.
The coal and coke unit provides steam coke to the power generation industry, coking coal to the steel production industry and coke to a variety of industrial customers. Both the sourcing and distribution activities of this business span the world over.
Noble secured access to coal reserves and significant coal marketing rights via investment at Austral and Donaldson and in Russia, the unit expanded its sourcing activities with expanded activities in Indonesia owning mines.
