Northern Areas Council flays terrorism in Gilgit

Members of Northern Areas Legislative Council (NALC) have strongly condemned the recent terrorism act in Gilgit which left at least 15 people dead and many others injured. Following the bloody incident, the members headed by the Deputy Chief Executive Northern Areas (NAs) Mir Ghazanfar Ali held a meeting in the Northern Areas house in Islamabad, in which they widely condemned the act of brutality.
The meeting was attended by member NALC, Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman, Ghulam Mohammad, Abdul Qudoos, Abdul Hameed, Himayatullah, Mohammad Ali Akhtar and Advocate Muzzafar Hussain.
Talking to the Business Recorder Mir. Ghazanfar said that the incident is act of religious terrorism, which is an open conspiracy against the unity among different sects in the NAs.
He said that the city is under the fully control of Army and the elements involved in spreading terrorist would be soon brought to book.
He further ruled out about any arrests involved in the incidence and said that government would do its best to cool the situation.
Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman who is also leader of opposition in the NALC, condemned the attacked on the religious leaders and killing of innocent citizens and held police and administration responsible for the worst incident.
He lamented on the performance of police and said that it was totally failed to provide security to the innocent people who were either burned alive or brutally shooted.
He was of the view that there should be a clean up military operation against the sectarian terrorists.
Hafeez said that police failure should be brought to surface and asked for launching the police reforms policy in the NAs.
He said that neither judicial system effective nor there is punishment to the culprits in the NAs.
