The federal government has merged the training institutes of Income Tax and Customs Groups into one entity for capacity-building training of the officers of these two departments. Informed sources have told Business Recorder that now the officers of the two groups will get capacity-building training at one institute which, after the merger arrangement, has been named 'National Institute of Tax Administration (NITA).'
This is a step forward towards the ongoing restructuring process of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR), they added.
The merger arrangement will not only reduce the cost incurred on two separate training institutes, but would also increase effectiveness and efficiency of the tax departments, they added. Moreover, this move will enhance co-ordination between the officials of the two service groups, the sources pointed out.
