The second meeting of the Task Force for SME Development Policy reviewed the policy development process and discussed the recommendations of the working committees. Industries, Production and Special Initiatives (MOIP&SI) Ministry Additional Secretary Syed Zaheer Ali Shah chaired the meeting, held here recently. Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) Chief Executive Officer Shahab Khwaja assisted the additional secretary during the meeting.
The MOIP&SI had constituted a TF for SME Development Policy under the SME sector Development Programme comprising of Secretary MOIP&SI as Chairman and Additional Secretaries of Finance, Commerce, Planning Division, Labour, as members.
The other members are Deputy Governor State Bank of Pakistan, Vice Chairman Export Promotion Bureau, CEO of Smeda, CEO of SME Bank, President of Federation of Pakistan, Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Chairman of Union of Small & Medium Enterprises (Unisame) and 2 members of Smeda Board of Directors.
The terms of reference of the TF are to consult stakeholders including SMEs and SME organisations in each province, to elicit views to discuss SME issue papers prepared by Smeda and draft the SME Policy 2005.
Secondly to propose a detailed process and time bound action and resource plan for consultative preparation and implementation of the SME Policy by March 31, 2005.-PR
