Fakhri named Safa advisor

The Institute of Cost and management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) Council member, Badruddin Fakhri, has been appointed advisor to the South Asian Federation of Accountants (Safa) for 2005. According to a ICMAP press release, during his tenure as Safa President, the Safa convened five assembly meetings during 2004, which is a record.
The IFAC presidents and Safa addressed the assembly together for the first time in Jaipur, India.
A meeting of the directors of education of the South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation (Saarc) accounting bodies was held in New Delhi.
As against last five years' record of the Safa, only two projects were completed, five projects were initiated by the Safa during 2004.
These includes status of research in the Safa, corporate governance in South Asia, task force to prepare cost index of major products of the Saarc region, introduction of accrual auditing in the government and private sector organisations in the Saarc countries and viability of net working.-PR
