Deputy Commissioner Gilgit Sajid Baloch said that no untoward incident took place in Gilgit and the situation remained calm and peaceful in the area. However, a handful of anti-social elements tried to spoil the peace by spreading rumours. But the saner elements and peace- loving people foiled these attempts.
A press note issued by the District Administration on Monday said that prominent religious leader Agha Ziauddin was being provided medical treatment at Rawalpindi and his condition is improving because of the devoted efforts being made by the doctors.
In Gilgit a duty officer has been detailed (Phone No 50104) to facilitate those stranded here due to the curfew. This centre would work round-the-clock facilitating the people. The government made arrangements for their return as soon as the situation improves. People have been asked to get in touch with the centre, the press note added.
