Punjab Governor, Lieutenant General Khalid Maqbool (Retd) has accorded approval for setting up the centre for imparting training in repair of cellular phone in the provincial metropolis. The decision was taken in a meeting held here on Monday with District Nazim Lahore Mian Amer Mahmood in the chair. Chairman Punjab Vocational Training Council, Sikandar M. Khan and other officers concerned were also present on the occasion.
The centre would be set up in Government Vocational Training Institute at Governor House where children of low-income group of government employees would receive training.
This eight-month duration course would start from March this year, while every student would also be given stipend of Rs 500 per month. This institute has so far imparted technical training to 114 male and female students in the fields of computer operating, beautician, tailoring, and clinical assistants.
The meeting also reviewed various projects including drainage system of Basti Bibi Pakdaman, Shimla Pehari, Durend Road and Habib Ullah Road.
